Sequence and Choreography with Kim
MONDAY, June 24, 8:00pm-9:30pm: Sequence and Choreography
Prepare to learn a single sequence while discussing and exploring additions and alternatives to the sequence. Everyone will perform the entire sequence to a song at the end of the workshop. We will discuss general concepts and thought process behind making your own choreography. There will be drops incorporated within the sequence.
Prerequisites: Level 2 and higher. Solid footlocks in the air (single and double). Able to do multiple inversions/straddle ups in the air. Able to stay in the air for at least 2 minutes.
About Kim: Kim Terry has been a lover of the aerial arts since that fateful day 7 years ago when she took her first aerial silks class in the Sacramento area. She trained and eventually taught for Aerial Evolution. When Aerial Evolution closed it’s doors, Kim started Love/Aerial, teaching and owning the business until June 2018 when she graduated from UCD Veterinary School and moved to the Seattle area for her rotating internship. For the past year, she has continued to train in the Seattle area on both aerial silks and straps. As she finishes up her internship in Washington, she is preparing to move to New York for a speciality internship in hopes for a radiology residency. She will be visiting Love/Aerial a few times before her cross-country move to New York in July.
Kim has had the fortune of training across the country and internationally. She is a perfectionist, but will always be a learner and explorer. She enjoys the challenges and intricacies that is wrap theory, but also has found straps training and conditioning to be very humbling. She focuses on technique while improving strength and flexibility.

Aerial Dance Choreography with Meredith
SATURDAY, July 13, 6:30pm-8:00pm: Aerial Dance Choreography
Starting with a dance inspired warm up, we transition into a choreographed combination from the floor into the air. Combining yoga, dance, aerial silks and music, we will open our bodies and minds to new possibilities of flight and self-expression. This high energy combo is choreographed to “Fitness” by Lizzo!!!
Prerequisites: Able to invert in the air, hip key, and sustain in the air for a few minutes.
About Meredith: Movement to Meredith Calderas Precit is expression, education and communication. She began dancing as a little girl, choreographing with her dance teacher at 11, changing the rules of her high school to let younger students audition at 13, and setting an example as cheer captain at 17.
Meredith continued with dance and cheer in college at San Francisco State University, graduating with a BA in TV & Radio Production and minoring in Dance. She performed in the New Moves Dance Showcase only 3 months after dislocating her knee cap. After her injury, which took place at a hip-hop audition, she discovered the profound healing of yoga. She has since incorporated her practice into her performances and dance classes.
After moving to Lake Tahoe, CA in 2013, she received her 200-hour yoga certification in Bhakti Vinyasa Flow and began training in aerial silks and aerial hoop. In 2017 she became a Certified Personal Trainer and in 2018 she received her certification in aerial yoga. She teaches aerial silks and aerial yoga to children and adults, creates custom exercise plans through personal training, and has created a yoga-dance class called Dance Yogi Dance. Through Dance Yogi Dance, she blends her love of yoga and hip hop and coordinates flash mobs with her students.
Meredith has performed at the The World Concert at Sand Harbor, Guitarfish Music Festival, Made in Tahoe at Squaw Valley, Summit LA and more, along with collaborations with local bands including Sneaky Creatures and Metal Echo. She is dedicated to this art and feels most alive in the vulnerability of performing and teaching.
Workshops with Lena Alani
If you missed out on Lena’s last set of workshops, fear not! She’s coming back to visit us for more fabric and hammock goodness!
WEDNESDAY, July 17, 7:30pm-9:30pm: Dynamic Sling (Aerial Hammock)
My heart will always belong to the hammock, as it is so easy to forget yourself while flowing on the sling, dancing your heart out. But let’s spice things up a little this time! Why not!? We will be exploring dynamic movement on sling, including beats, switches, mini drops, and some fun new twisty signature choreography. And remember the hammock is always there, supporting your weight, so it’s perfect to learn the basics of momentum on this apparatus!
Prerequisites: Hammock experience is suggested but not required, ability to get on the hammock from the ground and in the air multiple times. Intermediate level.
THURSDAY, July 18, 7:30pm-9:30pm: Silkography (Aerial Silks Choreo Workshop)
We will be studying a fun and dynamic signature choreography, that includes split tissue moves, small drops, exciting transitions and fun combinations. You will leave with a piece ready to be used to the music of your choice, or create your own dance with the sweet moves you will be learning in this workshop!
Prerequisites: Ability to invert from the floor or/and in the air multiple times, understanding of basic wraps (hipkey, thigh hitch etc.), 10 seconds bent elbow hang. Intermediate level.
About Lena: Lena Alani is a highly skilled contemporary/interdisciplinary circus performer, aerialist, choreographer, dancer and coach, based in Los Angeles, California. Born and raised in Russia, homeland of world-famous dancers and gymnasts, Lena couldn’t help herself from developing deep love and passion for dance, physical theatre and circus arts. All of those wonderful forms of physical expression have influenced her style in the air, powerful and dynamic, yet soft, fluid and graceful. She is truly an artist with a strong creative vision and a passionate heart, that believes that art in any form is a universal language to communicate emotions, as there is nothing like watching a live performance.
Highly motivated and passionate about aerial/circus arts and dance, Lena loves sharing her extensive knowledge with the students. Her background includes wide range of physical training in circus arts, dance, physical theatre, yoga etc. She specializes in coaching various levels of vertical apparatus, which include aerial fabric, hammock, rope and aerial yoga, as well as conditioning, strengthening, handstands and stretching techniques. It is very important for Lena to be able to create a fun and safe environment for students, and approach a class with compassion, encouragement and patience. Making sure to break moves down, so students have time and space to understand the foundations of aerial apparatus, before moving on to a next thing, progression by progression. She will guide students through fun dance warm-ups, which prepare body for movement on the floor and in the air, and focus not only on important skills and progressions, but also on the ability of connecting moves together, weaving them with seamless transitions, and learning how to actually dance in the air with fluidity and grace.
Workshops with Jenn Bruyer
Are you ready for a day of aerial magic with Jenn Bruyer? Mark your calendars for September 1 for THREE workshops to learn from @heelhang herself!
Price: $60 for one, $100 for two, $140 for 3
10:30am-12:00pm: Dance Hammock
Hammock has been a long time favorite of mine because I feel like I can simply DANCE! Without the entanglement of a fabric tail or the defined edge of a steel bar my body feels as though it can move as freely as if there were nothing there at all!
In this workshop we will explore specific skills, pathways and transitions that I think are particularly dance like in nature. We will also examine the space between the fabric loop and floor, how these two can meet and interconnect to create spins, circles, transitions, mounts and supported floor choreography to enhance your hammock vocabulary or create an entirely new performative experience. No background in dance or hammock is required.
Prerequisites: Open/all levels, but some aerial experience is recommended
4:30pm-6:00pm: Obscureography for Fabric
Learn more than just skills. This workshop will expose you to my personal perspective on creating a dance like effect in the air via intentional structure and a careful skill curation that lends itself to various successful movement qualities. We will explore fresh ideas in ascension, shape making and dynamics.
Prerequisites: Level 2 and above, able to be in the air for up to 2 minutes, ability to invert in the air is strongly encouraged.
6:15pm-7:45pm: All Roads Lead to Belayville & Other Interesting Knots
I’ve known what a belay was for a long time. And it never really interested me until I started using it in non traditional ways by delving into a deeper understanding of both the simplicity and the potential complexity of the structure.
Students will leave with a greater understanding of tying, managing and manipulating knots using the whole body through a progression of drills, examples of construction methods and a brief exploration of a variety of applications.
Prerequisites: Ability to invert in the air and be in the air for up to 2 minutes in a supported position. Some introduction to belay is helpful but not required.
When not on the road Jenn resides in the magical wonderland that is the Pacific Northwest in her beautiful tiny off grid home with her two weenie dogs. Jenn has been immersed in aerial arts since 2008. She is driven by her focus on fabric (silks) and sling (hammock) and her first love trapeze [of all sorts]. She also enjoys exploring cord lisse, cloud swing, lyra, net, rope & harness and anything else someone puts in front of her. She has coached, choreographed and performed around the world including over 30 US states, China, Italy, Germany, Austria, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico.
